Friday at No.2

Halfway up our first flight of stairs is a long ledge which is great for piling with pretty stuff.

Behind my tiny red front door I have been busy painting furniture, making cards, and filling in application forms. Come lunchtime I was ready for a good cup of rose garden tea and a hot cross bun, followed by a few minutes to play with the camera. Ashbourne has two weekly markets; one on a Thursday and one on a Saturday - the Thursday market was recently threatened with closure so I've been making sure I visit the stalls on both days each week to show some love. Yesterday the market square was abuzz with shoppers and tourists alike, I wish I'd taken a few shots of some of the stands but before long I'd clapped eyes on a few lovely finds and was totally lost to hunter-gatherer mode. There's a lady who sells scarves each Thursday and her rails are bursting with textures, colours and sheer beauty - I had to share some adoring shots of the polkadot number I picked up for £3 - isn't she a looker? Watching her billowing in the breeze from my open bedroom window I started to wonder if it might be possible to make a pair or curtains out of pretty scarves, we'll see!

Literally waiting for paint to dry at the moment so I can give the little telephone table I'm making over another coat of chalky, white paint. Hopefully this time I'll manage to do so without painting a bug into the mix - poor thing was whitewashed before it knew what had hit it - death by shabby chic? Not a brilliant way to go really.

  5. Those cups with plates were a great idea; so practical. I used to have a rather pretty one with a kind of petit-point design in china (no idea what it was as I'm not a collector), but I let it go when we did a house move - silly me. Mind you I'm a savoury rather than sweet person, so, pretty though it is on your plate, the hot-cross bun would not be my choice.

  6. So pretty. How often do you have to replenish your marshmallow supplies? They'd not last the five minutes to be photographed in my house! xx
