There has been something missing from my tea-related arsenal for a while - an enamel teapot! I found the bright blue beauty above for £2 from a local charity shop and couldn't have been chirpier about it, especially as those I'd been lusting after online - both brand new and vintage - had all cost around the £10-£15 mark which felt a little steep (no pun intended) to me. My little sister bought my Mum a brilliant light blue enamel teapot for Christmas a few years ago from Woolworths (RIP) and I have really fancied one for myself ever since. Little dream achieved - simple things! Now I just need a dreamy cabinet for my kitchen to house teacups, plates and baking bits.
On the subject of tea I have a bit of a thing for glass mugs, those two were a princely 50p for the pair and I've been enjoying using them for the prettily coloured herbal and fruit teas in my tea cupboard, also think they'll come in very handy for mulled wine and hot spiced cider come the festive season. The old platter they're set out on was £1.50, the birdy/floral pattern is so pretty in real life - I don't think I have managed to do it justice here! Inexplicable buy this week was the oriental style sugar pot, it is terribly made with a badly applied transfer and slightly wonky lid but since it was blue and white and priced at only 25p I took the plunge. Besides which I have a soft spot for imperfect things!
Favourite find has to go to the battered old grey suitcase, I only parted with £3 for this and call me weird but I love the bumps and scrapes on the outside - it has clearly been well used yet the lining is a pristine grey and cream houndstooth check, a brilliant contradiction. Not sure what I'll store inside as yet - probably crafty odds and ends. Last up is an old postcard for 25p, it was the handwriting that I liked, utterly gorgeous and yet barely legible, as though the person writing it was considerate enough to pop a card in the post but had far more exciting things to do than write a neat and wordy salutation on the back.

Your blog is unbelievably amazing. Seriously cant get enough! They things your find always blow me away with how pretty they are. I don't see how anyone could enjoy mass manufactured and designed items when there is so many stunning vintage looking goodies out there!

I want a bright blue enamel teapot now too! It looks so sweet. And I love the tea glasses; I've had an obsession with them since going to Morocco and drinking mint tea from glasses.

Lovely images to brighten up a Sunday! I too have been after an enamel teapot and keep going back to look at the ones on the Baker and Bell website after Pretty Nostalgic featured them but finding one on a charity shop, wow, the thrifting fairies must have been smiling upon you! Absolutely love the suitcase too :) xx

Wow! Seriously envious of the blue teapot! And the little blue and white pot. I too mourn the demised Woolworths, but Wilkinsons is a pretty good successor. Lovely finds!
ReplyDeleteYou always find such gorgeous things, you have such an eye for treasures! I adore the teapot but I also love the postcard. I wonder which birthday it was, and what's the sign off? It almost looks like 'mother' but it seems strange a mother would send a child a postcard on their birthday! X

You always manage to find such perfect things! <3 xo
ReplyDeleteOh Jem! Everything about this post is gorgeous! I love the idea of putting mulled wine in the glass mugs (I have a soft spot of glass!) The dish with the floral and bird pattern is divine and the postcard and suitcase obviously have a brilliant story to tell! Your house must look gorgeous with all these beauties, you should do a room tour! xxx

ReplyDeleteOoo we brought a tea pot at the weekend too. A silver one. But the handles fallen off. Well it had fallen off before we brought it. But it was too adorable to leave it heading for life in the land fill.
ReplyDeleteLoving the old suitcase too.
